Hello! 😄 The basic virtue to start with is good listening skills. Next to me is the ability to get into the details and analyze to find the past-present-future continuum. The rest of the skills would come as the situation demands. Once you make a beginning as someone who has the time and ability to delve into the depth of issues, you have started off well. All the best, dear pal! 😆 Regards, KK Nair

Hi,

The basic quality, my dear, is to have the right attitude. As a fresher, learn. Be focused on your work, goals, targets, and so on. Avoid office politics. Respect everyone, from your boss to the lowest rung. Offer help before being asked. Stretch your time and stretch your work. Spend considerable time reading in the area you work. Smile at everyone and exchange pleasantries. Be flexible and firm. Don't stick to cribbers. Beware of them. Add on more formal part-time courses to help you in your job. Well, the list goes on. But remember, it is up to you to choose success by a simple rule of changing oneself rather than changing the world. All the best.

Hi! He or she needs to do some research both inward and outward, i.e., one must understand the job market, what the opportunities are in terms of a generalist role or a specialized role. Furthermore, one must introspect on their own pace, considering whether they would prefer to be part of a sunrise industry or a regular one. The energy level and attitude required for both options are different. One may also speculate on career options, such as intending to be part of an HR consultancy firm or a mainstream industry. Once such crystallization of thought is achieved, one may approach organizations and contact the Head of HR or the recruiters. If he or she appears for a campus interview, they must not settle for what is available; instead, they should make a choice based on which organization is most suitable for them and focus on grooming themselves accordingly. This approach can make a difference and help convince the panel of their commitment level.

Hi,

I am pursuing an M.B.A. in HR as my major and IT as my minor. I am aiming for a good placement, so I am prepared to work hard. However, I am not proficient in English. What should I do to improve? Please advise, as I am feeling very confused.

Thank you.
