Answer for the first question: The man will give his car to his friend so that the old lady can be taken to the hospital, and he will stay with the girl (the dream partner).

Answer for the 7th question: The last person carries the egg along with the basket.

Hello Jayaraman,

You always post wonderful PPTs and informative texts, which are surely contributing to all of us here. I would like to request your help with the following:

My company has assigned me the task of conducting a training session on Innovation, Time Management, Communication Skills, and Business Etiquette. It is easy to gather theoretical material for this purpose, but a bit challenging to support the theory with management games that can help in learning. It would be great if you could suggest a few simple games that are possible to conduct on a company lawn, in an open space, or in a hall.

Thanks & Regards,
Neelam

Hi Jayaraman,

I manage to get some answers....

1. You are driving down the road in your car on a wild, stormy night, when you pass by a bus stop and you see three people waiting for the bus
An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.
An old friend who once saved your life.
The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Knowing that there can only be one passenger in your car, whom would you choose?
Answers – I will give my car to my friend so that the old lady can be taken to the hospital...n i will stay with the girl (my dream partner)

3. A man lives in the penthouse of an apartment building. Every morning he takes the elevator down to the lobby and leaves the building. Upon his return, however, he can only travel halfway up in the lift and has to walk the rest of the way - unless it's raining. What is the explanation for this?
Answer - The man is very, very short and can only reach halfway up the elevator buttons. However, if it is raining then he will have his umbrella with him and can press the higher buttons with it.

6. A man and his son are in a car crash. The father is killed and the child is taken to hospital gravely injured. When he gets there, the surgeon says, 'I can't operate on this boy - for he is my son!!!' How can this possibly be?
Answer - The surgeon was his mother.

7. There are six eggs in the basket. Six people each take one of the eggs. How can it be that one egg is left in the basket?
Answer - the last person carries the egg along with the basket.

Tase

Hi Jayaraman,

Logical problems:

Q9. How many socks does she need to draw to get any pair (or match)?

Q10. Obviously, "Mary."

Rest of the answers shall be provided shortly.

Cheers,
Sujatha

Hi Jayaramanb,

Good ones. Here are the answers for Lateral Thinking:

2. Acting on an anonymous phone call, the police raid a house to arrest a suspected murderer. They don't know what he looks like but they know his name is John and that he is inside the house. The police bust in on a carpenter, a lorry driver, a mechanic, and a fireman all playing poker. Without hesitation or communication of any kind, they immediately arrest the fireman. How do they know they've got their man?
Ans) The rest of them are females/women.

4. How could a baby fall out of a twenty-story building onto the ground and live?
Ans) I hope the baby was attached to a parachute.

Please reply if I am wrong, sir.
sujatha_m249
Hi Jay & Chamu!

If I am correct, the second question's answer is that all three men are calling the fireman "John," that's it. Please let me know whether I am correct or not.

Thanks & Regards,
Sujatha

Jayaramanb
Hi Sujatha, Chamu, and Rajshekar,

You are all correct. The fireman was caught because, as mentioned, the police apprehended JOHN (the name of a guy), and it is specifically stated as a fireman (instead of fireperson). Therefore, assuming he is the only male worker and the others are females.

Good attempt.

Hi Sujatha,

You've proven yourself smart and intelligent again; the answer is 28 days. I think you've made a conscious effort. Good, keep it up.

Hi Chamu,

The second answer, stating that the child had a parachute, is incorrect. Logically speaking, why would a child have a parachute in the first place? Think fast.

Dear Jay,

I think the 4th answer of Lateral Thinking is that the building is just a toy (story building). Is it correct?

Hi Dear Sujatha,

I have provided an answer regarding the building incident where the child fell from the ground floor. LOL

Dear Jay,

A logical third answer may be like this: I choose either the Apple box or the Orange box. For example, if I choose the Apple box, then if you pick up the Orange box, it will be labeled as "APPLE AND ORANGES Box." The Orange box will be labeled as "APPLE Box," and the Apple & Orange box will be labeled as "ORANGE Box" because we already know that all are labeled correctly.

Hi Neelam,

I have attached some games and group activities. I really did not find time to go through them to provide you with the exact requirements. Please take the time to see if these games meet your needs. If not, please reply to me.

Logical 2nd Answer of The Waiter:

The 3 paid $5 each initially, totaling $15. Then, they each received $1 back, meaning they only paid $12. In this scenario, we do not need to consider the initial $15 (as they already received $3 back) or the sum of $12 and the $2 kept by the waiter because doing so would not lead us to the correct answer.

Kindly correct me if I am wrong.

Sujatha

Three men in a cafe order a meal, the total cost of which is $15. They each contribute $5. The waiter takes the money to the chef, who recognizes the three as friends and asks the waiter to return $5 to the men. The waiter is not only poor at mathematics but also dishonest. Instead of splitting the $5 between the three, he simply gives them $1 each and pockets the remaining $2 for himself.

Now, each of the men effectively paid $4, so the total paid is $12. If we add the $2 in the waiter's pocket, this comes to $14. The question arises: where has the other $1 gone from the original $15?

The answer to this is that there is no need to add $2 to $12 because $2 is already included. One should add $2 to $10, totaling $12, and the remaining $3 is given back.

Logical 9th answer:

One pair of white socks because it is completely dark, but it is not night; it is day.

Answer for The Camels:

First thing is both the groups are coming from opposite ways, so they can see each other and pass without reversing by climbing over each other.

Regards,
Sujatha
Jayaramanb
My Dear Sujatha,

One part of the question is: "The camels didn't see each other until there was only exactly one camel's width between the two groups."

Try to use matchsticks or some coins and place four on each side, leaving one single space in between. Now, try to pass one over another with a space left each time one camel climbs over another and goes.

6th Answer of The Double Jeopardy Doors:

I will ask one Robo like this:

What will be the answer of the other Robo to my question, i.e., whether I will die if I use this door?

If the Robo says "yes," then I will use the same door. If it says "no," then I will use another door.

Because if the Robo to whom I have asked the question is a liar, then he will give the opposite answer of the other Robo. In the case of the true Robo, he will say exactly what the false answer comes from the other Robo.

Dear Jay,

In Lateral Thinking, we have found the answers for 6 out of 7 questions so far. Please let us know the answer to the 5th question.

My suggestion is as follows:
- Maybe the girl saw the guardian himself because he was checking whether the girl opened the door or not.
(or)
- Many toys, treats, and flowers because he wants to surprise the girl on her birthday.

Kindly provide the correct answer.

Regards,
Sujatha
Jayaramanb
When the girl opened the cellar door, she saw the living room and, through its windows, the garden. She had never seen these before because her parents had kept her all her life in the cellar.

Hi Friends,

I would like to thank all my friends who took the time and effort to solve the problems. Each one of you was right as lateral thinking differs, and basic logic is never an issue if we can reach the solution.

1. As already mentioned, the friend will be advised to take the old man in the car, and I will stay with my dream partner as there are few such wonderful moments in life.

2. The remaining three of them, i.e., the mechanic, carpenter, and lorry driver, may be females.

3. The building may be a toy building.

6. The answer to the 6th question is that the doctor is the child's mother.

7. The answer to the 7th question is that there may only be thirty people as six people are each taking one egg and not each one of the six people taking one egg.

Hello Jayaraman,

Thank you for the response. I am sure these games and activities will help me while organizing a prospective event very soon. I would definitely share my experience with all the group.

Thanks once again.

For the frog question, the answer is 27 days. By the 27th day, the leap will be enough to go over the well.

Lateral thinking..

Q1 is answered. I knew that.

Q7 is answered. I didn't know that.

Q6 is that the doctor was the mother of the boy.

Q2 is that the anonymous caller told the police the killer was John the fireman, so they saw his outfit (I guess) and arrested him.

Still working on the others...

deviji
Answer to the 2nd question: the others are women. So, the police arrested John without asking any questions.
deviji
For the 6th question, the doctor is his mother!

For the 7th question, the last person took the egg with the basket. So, one egg is available in the basket.
