Skill MAtrix [Thread 108474]

Hello Everybody,
I would like to know about skill matrix for operators of manufacturing industry....If anyone of you are following a skill matrix for your operators kindly do guide me.

Hi Suji,
for preparation of a skill matrix,you can follow the following method:
1) Identify the no. of operations in the line.
2) out of the total no. of operations identified, further identify the critical operations.
3) on a 4 or 5 point basis( e.g 1- cannot perform, 2- can perform with supervision, 3- can perform independentaly 4- can train others) , find out where the current workers fall. This needs to be done for all the regular workers atleast.
4) on the above basis, you can understand where is the workforce now on their skill level & where do you want to take them.
All the above activities require a great support specially from the management & supervisors.
