Dear CiteHRian,

I need a solution to ease my job. We have a database of around 13,000 entries. There is a column with both first and last names in each cell. I only require the first name.

Kindly support.

Dear Asif,

Kindly let me know which version of MS Office you are using. In MS Office 2003, there is an option under the "Data" menu called "Text to Columns". With this, you can split a column by selecting it and then using the above option.

Dear Asif,

Please use the Left function or Right function as given in the attached sample file. I hope this will solve your problem.

Dear Asif,

Please find the attached file. This formula will help you to split the names into First Name, Middle Name, and Last Name.

Dear All,

Thank you very much for your support and guidance. Please find enclosed a sample of data. What I need now is:

1. I want only the first name separated from the full name (you can note that the first name ending is identified by a space or a capital letter).
2. I want only the 10 digits of mobile numbers. For example, presently I have a series like 91-99677298848, and I want it to be 9967298848.

I am using MS 2007 version.

Thanks in Advance.
Regards,
