What Exactly Is an Employee Scorecard and How Does It Differ from HR Scorecards?

Hi All,

Please help me out in understanding the EMPLOYEE SCORECARD. I have information about HR Scorecard and Balanced Scorecard. One of the Directors has asked me about this Employee scorecard, but I do not have any information on it. Please help me understand the same.

Hi Viyannar,

Employee scorecards are derived from the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) itself. The BSC has certain objectives and measurements. These objectives are then brought under the scope of particular departments and employees, which can result in functional/departmental scorecards and employee scorecards. An employee scorecard includes objectives, measures, targets, time periods, and weightages specific to that employee or relevant to the job description of that employee, unlike the BSC, which encompasses objectives and measures for the entire organization.

Employee scorecards are used to determine the performance scores of individual employees based on the extent of objective achievement and the weightage assigned to that particular objective out of a total weight of 100%.

Shafiya is right. OBS and PBS are linked. If you have not read it yet, I suggest that you read the book by Dr. Hubert K. Rampersad. I am sure there is an Indian Edition by Tata McGraw-Hill.
