Starting an HR Placement Company in Cochin: How Do I Build a Candidate Database?

manoj639
Hi all,

My name is Manoj, and I am starting up a new HR training and placement company along with two of my friends in Cochin. We would initially focus on the financial sector (stockbroking firms...) and retail.

Can someone suggest to me where to start regarding collecting a database of candidates, etc.?

Regards,
Manoj

Before choosing any industry type, you should look at the resources in your hand. You need to ask two questions to yourself: Have you engaged a competent pool of talent to create customer delight? What is the organization's roadmap? Subsequently, use a decision matrix to make any decision.

Hi Avinash,

Can you please elaborate on what you said? I have some experience in placement in the retail sector. I would like to know where to start off with respect to contacting the candidates, CV collection, etc. Your input and everybody's input are welcome.

Regards,
Manoj

If you have prior experience in the retail industry, you should start with that first as you will be at ease in handling this segment. Simultaneously, you should start looking into the financial sector as well, but the level of activity at the initial stage should be small. It is only when you understand the ins and outs of the financial market that you should put your hand in it. A service firm should always aim at creating customer delight or magic moments.

Hi Manoj,

Thank you once again. My friends/partners (two of them) are from the financial sector, and they do have a background in that industry. In fact, our plan is to initially focus on these two sectors and then expand to others. In the meanwhile, we are also open to other sectors when it comes to collecting CVs.

As it is a startup, I would like to know how I could generate the database, especially of the candidates, both freshers and experienced. Your input is really helping me gain clarity. Thank you once again.

Regards,
Manoj

Generating a database of candidates is not a very big problem. You can become a member of job portals, but to gain a competitive advantage, you will have to focus on a niche that will differentiate your firm from the others. At the local/national level, you should also make use of referrals.
