How Much Will I Take Home After Taxes? Understanding My Salary Break-Up and Allowances

ankit015
Hi all,

I am providing my full salary break-up. Please let me know how much I would take home as a monthly salary after tax deductions.

Break-up Monthly
Basic 22500
HRA 11250
Special Allowance 6070
Medical Allowance 1250
LTA 1250
Conveyance Allowance 800
Company Contribution to PF 780
Travel Allowance 8333

Gross Compensation 43900

(#) means payable as reimbursements

1. Please inform me about my take-home post-tax salary.
2. Travel allowance vs. conveyance allowance
3. Is the travel allowance of 8333 too large? Do I need receipts to get reimbursements for these expenses?

Hi Ankit,

As you have said, your gross is 43900. That means travel allowance is not counted in your gross, and after the deduction of PF and tax, you would get approximately 38000 in your hand (if there are no other deductions).

- Travel: For traveling outside the place where your job is.
- Conveyance: For local travel.

And yes, you have to submit the bills for medical, travel, and LTA in case you want to have an exemption from taxes. You can avail of LTA twice a year, but if you don't, then it would be counted as your income, and tax can be deducted.

Hope I have helped you out.

Hi Ankit,

Thank you for your message. I have some more doubts. You mentioned that after tax and PF deductions, I would receive around 38,000. Does this 38,000 also include the 8,333 travel allowance? If I am unable to submit the bills for the travel allowance, will I still receive it? If yes, will it be on a monthly or yearly basis? Additionally, how much PF would be deducted from my salary, and what does the company's contribution to PF mean?

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Chitra
