A R Rahaman first time Worked has a music director in Kannada for the movie "Dance Raja Dance"
And
Amithabh Bachan's First South Indian Language film was in Kannada is "AMRUTHA DHARE".

Thanks for the update. I was a little bit confused with the movie names "Amrutha Dhare" and "Nanna Preethiya Hudugi" as both are Nagathihalli's films. I agree that Bachan's first South Indian film is "Amrutha Dhare."

Thanks, Ashwini, for rectifying the mistake. As far as A.R. Rahman's (Dance Raja Dance) music is concerned, I am not sure whether it is correct or not.

In the TV show interview, the director of "Dance Raja Dance," Mr. Dwarakish, himself said this statement. By that time, A.R. Rahman was called Dilip Kumar, and he is the one who introduced Mr. A.R. Rahman to the film industry.

I checked up on ARR's music. The music director for Dance Raja Dance is Vijayanand. ARR worked with Vijayanand for orchestration and background music. So, A.R. Rahman is not the music director for Dance Raja Dance. Similarly, ARR worked with Vijayanand for the film Inspector Vikram.

To conclude, A.R. Rahman never worked as the main music director for Kannada movies.
