How Do You Explain Choosing HR as Your Career During Interviews? Seeking Advice!

Dear Seniors,

I am working in an automobile company in an HR Generalist role. I have around 2 years of experience, and now I am looking for a job change. During my interviews, many HR professionals have asked me, "Why did you choose HR as your career?"

Please assist me in formulating an effective response to this question.

Regards,

You should say, "I am a people person. Love to interact, am empathetic towards employees. Have a liking to serve, a go-getter with a fun-loving attitude. These are some of the attributes that make a good HR person."

And, if nothing else works, simply say, "HR is my passion!"

Ha! Ha! It worked for me. The point is not to flounder in your answer; and besides, if you already have 2 years of experience as an HR Generalist, I don't see if any employer of repute would be asking you such a question at this stage in your career. This is something which a fresher is asked when he is being interviewed for a Trainee or executive post.

Cheers!

Hi, I am working on a project studying the recruitment procedure in Tata Teleservices and benchmarking it with other organizations. Please guide me on how to go about it. Also, if you could help me with some material on the same.

Awaiting your reply,

Sir,

Presently, I am working as a Centre Manager with one of the leading Education Training & Services Limited organizations. Apart from administrative responsibilities, I teach quantitative aptitude to MBA aspirants. I'm an engineering graduate who passed out in 2008. I've cleared the written exam of TISS HRM & LR. My interview is in mid-March. Please help me with why HR is a viable career for me. What should I say for this question? It will be a great help to me.

Thanks a lot.
