SAP HR is easy to learn! However, a candidate should have at least 2 years of experience in the domain (i.e. HR field). If that is the case, SAP HR can be learned. Another important thing to note is that SAP is an emerging field, so there is no need to worry about job openings. There are numerous opportunities in many large and emerging companies. The amount of effort you put into learning is what matters the most. No one can be an expert in SAP, but one can always strive to benchmark the best. Learning SAP does not end once you secure a job.

To secure a job on the SAP-HR platform, one needs to have at least one end-to-end project experience coupled with an MBA in HR. This is the harsh reality. I suggest that those who are trying to enter this platform should check for these two prerequisites.

From my discussions with seniors in the field and those who are into SAP:

It is not even worthwhile to think of doing SAP-HR unless you have at least 2 years of solid HR Generalist experience behind you, and that too, in a good Company.

Secondly: Which is the best institute for SAP-HR??? Ans: Siemens. There are lots of institutes in every nook and cranny in every city trying to lure people, but the hard fact of the matter is that only the SAP-HR program from Siemens is considered valid in the job market. So, your prospects of getting a break in SAP HR would be better if you do it from Siemens, but be ready to shell out 3 lakhs for the same :-)

I. If the institute is certified, then to learn SAP HR daily for 8 hours (200 hours) will cost around 3-4 lakhs (including taxes). You will receive global recognition upon successful completion of the course.

II. If you opt for online e-learning for 200 hours over 5 months, it also holds the same value but may range between 1-2 lakhs (inclusive of taxes). In both cases, you will focus on real-time projects, and the training will be provided by certified professionals.

III. Nowadays, many institutes offer courses for as low as 20,000. However, in such cases, you may not have access to real-time projects, and the certification may not be widely recognized. It may also require providing fake experience certificates.

So, my dear friends, I hope this information proves useful.

I understand that I must ideally have an experience of 2-3 years. However, as I am a fresher and quite keen on SAP HR, how much sense is there in doing a not-so-good course (like that from Siemens) but a local course which is also cheaper to have an understanding of SAP and later, with experience, to go for international certification? I'd also like to know if these other courses like the ones available online and local ones provide certification and good projects. Hope I'm not sounding too naive.

Where do you put up? The rates are different from place to place. As I am from Bangalore, I know how much it would cost here. However, the duration is the same everywhere. It is a 45-day course with 90 hours of sessions and requires more practical experience to become familiar.
