Fresh HR Graduate Seeking Advice: Which Certifications or Activities Boost Career Growth?

sameena arif
Dear seniors,

I am a fresher MBA in HR and am soon going to join in a generalist profile. I want to enhance my CV with further certifications to support my career growth in the right manner, but I do not know which kind of add-ons can help shape up the career path in HR. Would a degree in part-time law or something in finance like CFA be useful? Or any kind of involvement in social or professional groups that can be suggested to enrich the CV? Should I simply concentrate on my job and add the number of years to my experience?

Please help me with your valuable suggestions.

Hi Sameena,

It is good that you are looking to get yourself some certifications, but be sure to get the right qualifications. As you are an MBA HR and want to get into a generalist profile, it is better to get certifications in training (Train the Trainers, Training Professional), recruitment (Certified Recruitment Professional), payroll, and compensation. There are a lot of certifications on offer, so be sure to choose the right institute for the same.

Dear Manas,

Please shed some light on the certificate course "Certified Recruitment Professional". I have around 7 months of experience in the recruitment process and am keen to join this course. Please guide me on whether it can be done through correspondence. I am based in Roorkee where there are no facilities for undertaking part-time courses. Kindly suggest if any weekend courses are available in Delhi so that I can enhance my skills.

Hi friends,

"Certified Recruitment Professional" is a certificate course offered by many institutions. You can obtain this certification by attending weekend training programs. You can easily find information about these programs on the internet by doing some research. You might discover some programs near your hometown.

Thank you.

Dear Manas,

Thank you so much for the valuable information. It has surely helped me, and I think it has been of help to Pankaj and Pallavi as well. However, I think I need to wait for some months of experience like Pankaj in a particular field before I can choose which certification I shall move on with. My current job profile focuses on recruitment as well as performance appraisals, so I'll see how the responsibilities shape up.

Apart from these, do you have any idea as to how some particular social or professional communities can enrich the experience?

Thanks and regards,
Sameena
