Considering ICFAI's PG Diploma in Training and Development: Is It Worth It for Aspiring Corporate Trainers?

veraferns83
Dear all,

I have just come across this postgraduate degree from ICFAI, namely, PG Diploma in Training and Development. Does anyone know the merit of this program? I am considering doing it and was wondering if I should. I am interested in becoming a corporate trainer and would really appreciate some guidance. I have 1.5 years of training experience.

Do let me know if anyone knows the merits of this course.

Thank you

Dear Veera,

It's not a postgraduate "degree;" it's a PG diploma! There is a big difference between the two. If you are looking for a PG degree in T&D, I am sure you must have some prior background in T&D or basic qualifications, and hence, you want to pursue an advanced certification. Am I correct? Please brief me about yourself. I am sure I will be able to guide you.

Hi Sajid,

I meant PG Diploma from ICFAI. As mentioned, I have 1.5 years of experience in Communication training. I would like to make a career in corporate training. I've been searching for a job in training for the past month; however, I have not found anything suitable. I would like to do a course that would enhance my knowledge in training. Hence, I was wondering if this program from ICFAI would be beneficial or not.

Any advice on what should be my next step?

Hi Rooma,

I understand that the course from ISTD is good; however, you need two years of work experience. I do not have that work experience. That's the reason why I can't look at doing the course right now.

Hi Vera,

I have completed the diploma from ISTD. It is a good course, and the two-year work experience is not a mandatory requirement. They do relax on that clause. So, I would recommend that you download the prospectus and send in your application. When I applied, I had only 1 year of work experience, and they still considered my application. All the best. After reviewing the subjects of the ICFAI course, I feel ISTD is the better choice.

Hi Vera,

I agree with Shahnaz. As far as within India, ISTD is the best option. Go for it.

Dear Sajid,

A few days back, I had inquired about the T&D program at ICFAI. They mentioned that it is a one-year course and they only provide the necessary materials for exam preparation. I believe interactive classes would be more beneficial for someone aspiring for a career in T&D. I am not aware of the procedure at ISTD.

Thank you.

Thank you guys,

I'll check out the ISTD course. However, do any of you know of an interactive postgraduate course in training? Of course, a full-time course would be better than a distance education course.

Please let me know.

Thank you.

Hi,

If you are a jobholder, it's better to go with weekend classes or evening classes that won't affect your regular schedule. I feel...

Hi Altaf,

I am currently looking for a job. I wouldn't mind doing a full-time course if there is one in training and development that is recognized. Do let me know if you know of any such course.

Thank you

Dear Shahnaz,

I have around 2 years of experience in recruitment but not in T&D. However, I want to do this course to enhance my knowledge in HR. Please let me know whether I am eligible for the ISTD course or not. I am currently employed, so I would prefer a distance learning diploma. Please also provide me with information about this diploma course.

Fahim Khan

Hi Ketki,

I would like to know more details about the ISTD course as I am planning to pursue it. Can you provide information on the exam structure and how demanding the coursework is? I am married and need to understand if I will be able to manage the schedule and studies effectively. Please share any insights or advice you think I should be aware of.

Thank you,
Ketki

I am a trainer. I have enrolled in the ISTD course this time. I have made this decision after speaking to a few trainers as well as training experts working with various organizations (even MNCs).

It seems like a good one. The concern regarding the interactive sessions is genuine. Let me know if you come across any 'interactive' Train the Trainer programs in India.

Hi Rooma,

I have completed my PG in HRD, and now I am interested in pursuing a career in Training and Development (T&D). I don't have any experience in this field. Could you please guide me?

Thanks,

Dear Vera,

PG Dip in T&D certainly hones your training competency, especially when you want to throw your hat in the training ring. However, MBAs with HR specialization need not study this again.

Hi,

I am interested in this course as well. Is this a full-time program, or could it be done while you are working?

Hi,

Can anyone tell me where I can pursue courses in content development, Six Sigma, and diploma in Training and Development? I have 10 years of experience in T&D and am exploring options to study abroad. Despite my extensive search efforts, I have not yet found suitable responses.

Thank you.
