Need Urgent Help Finding Psychometric Test Questionnaires for My Project!

Hello everyone,

I am a summer trainee with Aditya Birla Group. My project is on SOP recruitment and selection. I think psychometrics form an important part of it.

I urgently need the questionnaires of FIRO-B, MBTI, DISC, 16PF, PPA, PAPI-N, Johari, and Belbin Team Inventory. Please help.

I have some concerns over this. Bonafide psychometric tests are protected instruments. They should be used only by those whose credentials and experience allow them to be certified to administer and interpret them.

Furthermore, the tests themselves are the intellectual property of the companies that have developed them and/or own the rights to use them.

Posting the tests in an open forum may not only be a breach of professional ethics but may also represent theft of intellectual property.

Lastly, the posting of tests where anyone can download them and pass them around compromises the integrity of such instruments.

I would hope that HR professionals would follow international guidelines and protocols for psychometric testing.

While it is appropriate to direct fellow professionals to the resources by which one can acquire the use of tests (under specific conditions), posting the instruments (if, in fact, they are the "real" thing) is not appropriate.

As a certified Level A and B Workplace Assessor by the BPS and one who is also qualified on other instruments by virtue of my clinical psychology degree and approvals from testing vendors in the USA, I feel obliged to tell all of you, this represents very shaky legal and professional ground.

Here, not all the postings contain the companies' info that is being posted. The members of this site are simply sharing their knowledge with other members of this site. We can find a few examples of these tests from various websites. Such links or documents of this type are also posted here. So, I hope this does not breach any ethics.

Sharing knowledge is one thing; sharing a copyrighted instrument is another. For example, I am very experienced in using the 15FQ+ (similar instrument to the 16PF), and I can post a sample report and describe the instrument's use. I would never post a copy of the test itself, and neither would the test provider. To the best of my knowledge, test provider websites do not post the instruments; maybe a few sample questions but not the instrument.

I do agree with the fact that these tests have to be handled by trained professionals. Furthermore, since they may be copyright protected, the contents are not to be used. Reviewing them is a must! :icon5:

Have you read and understood some of these tests? Have you undergone some of these? Just by collecting these questionnaires, what can you do? You need the key. You can get the key as well. But my advice would be to get trained in these instruments correctly.

Indeed, to appropriately use, interpret, and apply the results of psychometric instruments, one requires appropriate training. Once again, I will remind the Cite HR participants that the use of tools in a manner inconsistent with testing protocols is a questionable practice.

Of course, I realize that some will say that training is expensive and buying the tools (instead of sharing copyrighted materials) is costly.

However, as a PROFESSIONAL, you have an obligation to do the right thing. The ends do not justify the means, in my humble opinion.

Test developers and workplace assessors spend time and considerable resources to develop their expertise. Furthermore, you do your employees an injustice by using tools that you are not familiar with.

As for what the "letters" for the MBTI mean... I suggest you do your homework and read. Sorry if I sound harsh, but as we all know, HR gets a bad reputation when we act in ways that suggest anyone can perform well in HR by gathering a few tools and using them in a haphazard way. If we are calling ourselves "professional," then we need to abide by the code of ethics and body of knowledge generally accepted as one of the pillars of a professional role.

Hi there, this is Nikita. I am having my summer training on the topic "ROLE OF PSYCHOMETRIC TEST IN POTENTIAL ASSESSMENT." Can anybody help me out with each and every finding, especially the questionnaire that can work as a tool in the organization where I'm working to assess potential? Also, I am looking for the exact data on those companies using this test in recruitment, promotions, or training and development in India itself. I would also like to know the names of these companies. I hope to find the exact information I am looking for. 😕

Secondly, researchers and professionals who invest time and effort in formulating these tests do deserve due respect. One cannot just pick formats up and interpret them as desired. These are time-tested scientific tests with proven applicability if used in the prescribed manner only.

I have attached an overview of DISC. There is another psychometric test called axiology which is more detailed and also outlines a development plan according to the results.

I do totally agree with Bruncha. Only certified psychometric assessors should be allowed to administer assessments and give feedback on reports. As for the questionnaires, even if you have them and see them, without the algorithm or the keys, they will not be of benefit to anyone. Most of these tools can only be scored online. Good luck, but I do not believe that we should support copyright infringement.

Hi!

Beside copyright and legal issues, there is another important issue that is the external validity of the test. All the above-mentioned tests are Western psychometric tests. We cannot blindly follow them in India; we have to ensure that they are equally useful and valid for our population. Otherwise, psychometric tests will lose their importance. It would be better if we devise our own tools depending on our needs.

All the tests you have asked for are not meant for selection. Most of them are IPR protected, and hence legally, you cannot use them unless you procure them from an authorized distributor after getting certified to use them. I fully endorse Bruncha's view as I too am BPS Level A&B qualified.

Now, to help you achieve your task ethically, please attend a certification program organized by Welcome to HRAnexi.com in Mumbai from 12th to 14th June and use tools like 15FQ+, OIP, OPP, etc.

It is not a joke to do this job; one can do real harm to the individual or organization if not trained to interpret and write reports. It must be taken seriously.

These tests can be used for educational and research purposes with the prior permission of the test developer. For commercial use, one has to get trained and pay the concerned person.

"Bruncha" has a very valid point. We, as enforcers of the Code of Conduct and business ethics in our organizations, should refrain from indulging in these acts ourselves.

Honestly, we keep looking for such great tests, but as you rightly said, they are not easily available and are expensive too. At times, you succumb to attractions. In order to determine a person's correct answers through this test, we use a specific rating system or evaluation method. This process involves analyzing the responses provided by the individual and comparing them to the expected or ideal answers. By carefully assessing each answer and applying the appropriate criteria, we can accurately determine the person's performance or level of understanding.

Dear All,

There are no "right" or "wrong" answers in the MBTI. It places the respondent in one of 16 "types", each having specific characteristics, which then may be relevant to career choice or job role. However, there is a scoring template required, and that's why one has to be trained on the use of the test.

I previously posted a site where you can get more details on the test. If this is just an academic exercise, then you could probably take a web-based version of the test that I have seen circulated (cannot vouch for validity, however) and discuss it in your paper based on other information you acquire in your reading.

If you are trying to administer the test to employees and/or recruits without the proper training, that's another thing, and as I have said previously, that is not a good practice, and I cannot support it.

Though not a very old user of citehr, I would like to extend support to what Bruncha has pointed out, and many others have supported. Being a psychology student and an aspirant of HR, I would like to reiterate not only the copyright violation involved here but also the importance of trained professionals to administer and interpret psychometric tests.

To cut the parade short, for you to be able to get your academic report done, I would recommend that you contact the representatives of prominent Psychometric firms, such as Profiles International, SHL, Genesys, Psytech, Predictive Index, and try to get one of them to sponsor your research. They could supply you with questionnaires as a pilot project, score them for you, and also provide a delegate to help you with feedback sessions for the candidates and the company. I believe someone would sponsor that initiative, especially if you could highlight what's in it for them.

So, let me highlight a point: previously, all of us, including myself, have just made comments on a matter where a colleague needed help, and only a few of us suggested solutions. Therefore, I think what should happen is not the parading of qualifications, but the supply of solutions!

One needs to be thoroughly trained before administering any sort of psychometric tests. This will help you obtain appropriate results and measure them accordingly.
