Minimum Wage Changes in Rajasthan: How Will This Impact Your Business from March 1st?

Dear friends,

Minimum wage revision in Rajasthan is on the cards. The government has issued a draft notification expressing its intention to revise minimum wages in scheduled employments effective from 1st March 2008. After considering objections and suggestions from all related quarters, the government has decided to revise minimum wages as follows:
- Unskilled: ₹100 per day
- Semiskilled: ₹107 per day
- Skilled: ₹115 per day

The final notification is expected to be released soon. It will have a retrospective effect and must be applied from 1st March.

Since the government has issued the notification yesterday, the effective rates are the same as mentioned in the earlier post. The rates are made applicable from 1.3.08.

If the minimum wage is Rs 3144, does the basic salary need to be Rs 3144 for the calculation of PF and ESI, or can the gross salary be Rs 3144? This query is specific to the state of West Bengal.
