Understanding Performance Appraisal in ITES: Is It Yearly or Monthly?

Hi All,

I work in an ITES company. Could someone please explain the procedure for Performance Appraisal? Is it conducted yearly or monthly?

It depends from company to company. The usual practice is yearly-based appraisal.

It usually depends on company rules. In my company, performance targets are revised every six months, but the final appraisal is conducted annually.

Hi Senthil,

Performance appraisal is affordable only once a year, due to the effort put in by the HR and the employees. It does require a lot of time collecting the data and analysing it. Hence, it's not feasible or practical to do it once a month.

Hi friend,

Performance appraisal/review is not necessarily a salary revision or promotion. It may just be a one-on-one session with your reporting manager regarding your performance, areas of improvement, and significant achievements in the last review period.

Please note that this review can be done monthly or even bimonthly; however, the idea of a salary revision on a monthly or quarterly basis is not feasible. Generally, it is done annually, and some companies prefer to do it half-yearly as well.

Hi, let me tell you the basics. There are three types: the calendar year, the accounting year, and the appraisal year. Generally, appraisals are done yearly, but in consultancies, particularly those with corporate trainers, they are appraised quarterly. Additionally, some growing IT companies conduct appraisals half-yearly. Feel free to ask if you need any help.
