Dear Meenu,

There was a discussion to increase the MLs to 6 months, but no order from the government has been issued so far. Hence, we shall continue to have the MLs for 84 days until further notice.

I wanted to ask how many days she has to complete in a particular organization to get ML benefits? Is there any specific time period she has to complete?

Please reply to me soon.

Dear Sweta,

Sorry, I saw your message late. A woman shall not be entitled to maternity benefits unless she has actually worked in the establishment for a period of not less than 80 days in the 12 months immediately preceding the date of her expected delivery.

Thank you.

ML is not yet revised. Discussion is ongoing to extend it to 6 months, specifically for central government employees. Therefore, it won't apply to any private establishments.

Dear All,

There are two aspects to consider:

Eligibility: Working for 80 days within a 12-month period.

Entitlement: 12 weeks in total (6 weeks before and 6 weeks after).

I hope this information is clear.

Hi,

I saw your request late. Maternity leave has not yet been officially revised. The government is discussing making it for a 6-month period. However, wait for an official confirmation. Until then, the old act applies, meaning 80 days of mandatory working are required, and 12 weeks of pre and post-rest would apply. Happy mothering!

Vijay

Hi guys,

It's only 12 weeks of ML. It is the choice of the employee now to take these 12 weeks as they wish. Initially, it was 6 weeks of prenatal and 6 weeks of postnatal.

Dear All,

There is no such amendment that states an extension for 6 months. However, a female employee can take 12 weeks of leave as maternity leave. The first 6 weeks are to be taken during the pre-delivery stage, with the remaining weeks to be taken after delivery.

Hope this information is helpful.

I don't think so! It is under discussion for central government employees but not for private firms.
