Is a Job Offer of 13,000 in Dubai Enough for a Married Couple to Live Comfortably?

Hi Friends,

My friend is in trouble, please help. He applied for a job in Dubai. That company is offering him 13,000 in Dubai's currency, out of which 9,000 is fixed and 3,000 is variable. My friend is married. Do you think it is profitable for him to go for this job as Dubai is an expensive city?

Please answer.

Durga

At least Max AED 5k has to be spent monthly for expenses if he is going to stay as a bachelor.

Hi Durga,

I believe the package that your friend has received is a decent one for starters in Dubai.

The expenses with family will amount to 8000 AED (Dirhams) in Dubai.

My suggestion is that he can initially move to Dubai alone, leaving his family in India for a while. He can then arrange accommodation and transportation by himself. During this process, if he manages to secure shared accommodation, which is common in Dubai, he will gain an understanding of the expenses and potentially save some funds before relocating his family. Additionally, if he plans to permanently relocate, he should encourage his wife to seek employment as well, as there are many opportunities for women employees on their husband's visa.

Dubai is a rapidly growing country, resulting in increasing living costs and salary ranges. However, one challenge is acquiring UAE experience, as most firms require it. Changing jobs is also not as straightforward as in India; individuals typically have to fulfill their contract term, usually 2 to 3 years as stipulated in the agreement.

In summary, moving to Dubai is a viable option if he is enthusiastic about relocating abroad, especially considering the better standard of living compared to India.

Thanks dost,

But my friend is not a starter; he has more than 2 years of experience. Do you think this is a good package for an experienced person?

Hi Durga,

What I meant is a starter in Dubai. Even if he has 8 years of experience in India, it doesn't count for much in Dubai. He is being asked for Dubai experience.
