I am new to this forum. I have recently joined a new company where the employees are not used to any kind of reporting system. In the last few months, despite guiding them and providing them with templates, it's not happening. They say they don't have time to do such things. My team does not understand the importance of reporting to management. They simply do the work without measuring their own performance.

I need to motivate them and help them understand that reporting is essential.

It's very difficult to bring change in any company or environment. Your team may not understand the importance of documentation. I don't know whether your company is ISO certified, but documentation is essential for any ISO certified company.

Coming back to your question, you have to mention your position as well, like in which capacity you are currently working. It's very difficult to instruct your seniors, but it's a relatively easy task for your subordinates.

Regardless of juniors and seniors, you have to enforce this practice of documentation. Although you are new to the company, you still have to influence this as soon as possible. 2. Ensure and provide easy reporting procedures that will not consume much of their time.

There are two solutions to any problem:

The easy way: You tried it. Since all your employees or team members say that they don't have time, this can't be a solution.

The hard way: Just issue a memo that either the team reports every day or once in two days, whichever you prefer. Or, they have to stay back late every day, and there would be a team meeting arranged by the team leaders for their teams.

Definitely, you will observe that people with no time will start finding time for the same.
