Want Assistance Regarding Esic - Xls Download

eva
hie,
I m eva.I have a query regarding the deduction and wage ceiling under esic.
I have joined my current job in november 2006.while offer later was given in the month of october.I was offered package of 1.25 lacs per annum.
that comes to 10417 per month.the breakup is as below:-
Basic -5000
Hra-2000
Medical allowance-445
Pf-12% of basic i.e -600
SA-2372
But when i got my first salary, there was no medical allowance included in that, instead esic was deduted from that.
And that too both employees and employers contribution i.e 1.75 % and 4.75% respectively was deducted from my salary.

As per my knowledge the updated wage ceiling for esic is 10,000.
Can anyone help me with the solution? And why i have been covered under esic?
Pls reply back

Eva,
Firstly, I would like to tell you that even though the company has given you a package of Rs. 1.25 per annum i.e. Rs. 10417/- per month, the terminology for a package in terms of the company is CTC - Cost to Company. In this way, your gross salary would become less than 10,000/- per month.
CTC includes gross salary, PF (employer contribution) & in some companies ESIC (employer contribution).
Actually, it is not the problem with the company, because during oct-06 the esic range of Rs .10,000/- was not finalized fully.

Hi Niti,
Your salary break up says that ur monthly salary comes to Rs.9372. Medical allowance will be for Yearly basis. They will be showing it in the CTC and you can anytime claim those medical as per your company's policy.
ESI will be covered upto the salary limit of Rs.10,000/-
For this you should have filled up one Declaration form.
I think i should have explained in brief. If any more query kindly mail me back.
Regards,
Caroline.

thanks caroline,
are u sure i can claim the medical anytime because as infromed by the HR once an employee is covered under esic, company cannot give medical allowance.and also i wud like to let u know that all my other colleagues get the medical allowance monthly.

Eva,
Sorry to tell you that, but it is true. As I have replied earlier, the company gives you salary package in CTC. Now, it depends upon the company to include what components in CTC.
Hope you are clear now.

Dear Eva
company offered you ctc of Rs. 1.25 lac p.a., including medical etc., it is your annual package. and your monthly package is less than rs. 10000/- earning per month. So you have automatically covered under ESIC. And as about Medical reimbursement. You claim your eligible amount after giving medical expenses receipt after completion of your probation period.
For further any query you can contact me on my yahoo id. i.e. [Login to view]

HI Eva,
The Ceiling limit for ESI has been increased recently from Rs.7500/- to Rs. Rs10000. let me first know what is your Gross Salary.
ESI is deducted on the salary of a person if his/Her Gross salary falls below Rs.10001. if yes u become a member of it by default by Law.
in your case u said 10400+ is your monthly salary. if it is Net/Gross salary then u do not come under the ESI Bracket. if its your CTC then Plz find out the Gross salary and go by the above said.
u can always ask the HR Representative to explain it to u. a confusion in the first pay slip is common to araise.
