One more in favour of Selection being difficult
For Rejecting a Candidate you don't require much skills [even i can reject a potentially good candidate if i am not able to do the evaluation correctly]
For Selecting a Right Candidate you need to have sufficient skills... [You should be more qualified / experienced / and in better position than him/her]

deepali....
this is the difference between you (as an HR professional) & those who are being rejected.
u see selection as repetiory test - profile matchin (behavioral & technical)
but the one who is rejected, thinks ...what if she would have selected me.
read my earlier mail..."error in selection leads to demotivation factor"
dips u seems to be quite emotional.....

DIPS !!!!
There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul. This what i feel.
wud like to talk to you ...shayad kuch shikne ko mile

As an applicant - give me selection EVERY time :D
As a recruiter - breaking the news about rejection is definitely not my favourite thing to do.

Hi
In hiring we just cannot be emotional,we must have the bestest intention for our organisation.Only the best fitting candidate should be hired.anyways I have noticed that during your initial phase of professional life you do feel emtional but later when the same candidates kick you on the ass and leaves when the company has given its best to him /her ,you realise the one sidedness of being emotional.

Dear All
There is one important point we seem to be missing out.
Selection or Rejection here persay is with the fitment to a job.
There is nothing to empathise or sympathize here.
If there is a right fit, he/she is going to be hired for the job.
In cat-on-the-wall cases, we hire them only when we are not able
to get the right-fit to a particular position for many reasons.
In fact, sometimes by rejecting them we might be doing a lot of good
to them wherein they will be able to secure a job matching their strengths.
This might seem to be harsh, but this is how many of us operate. Nobody recruits a person on sympathy or empathy.
Regards,
Harsha
