wages are given basically on daily whereas salary are given on monthly basis

Monetary remuneration computed on hourly, daily, weekly, or piece work basis is called Wages.
A fixed monthly wage is usually called a salary.
Most of the Indian labour legislations use the term Wages and not salary.
S for Staff and remuneration paid to Staff on a monthly basis is called Salary.
W for workmen and the remuneration paid to workmen is called wages.
Of course this is not definition but this is the way it is understood in India.

Wage is paid to labours.
Salary is to staff.
In normal cases what is paid to labours is termed wages
