Hyderabad CiteHR Members: How About We Plan a Meet-Up to Connect and Collaborate?

Hi Hyderabad CiteHR Forum Members,

I saw a post in the forum that the CiteHR members of Pune are planning to meet somewhere! It is a great idea! I feel we, CiteHR Hyderabad members, too should meet someday, which is convenient for all. This will really help us:
- To meet and get to know each other
- Discuss and help each other in case of any problems
- Have discussions on common issues and find solutions.

Folks, please share your views, opinions, suggestions, and ideas on this matter.

It's the best thing, Prabhakar. Let's start by collecting email IDs where all the HR from Hyderabad can be informed. I can take the initiative of collecting and informing about the date and venue. Try to schedule for a later date because many of them may miss this post and won't be aware of the meet.

Thanks a lot for the prompt response.

Many people have responded with their personal email IDs. May I request others also to provide their personal/official email IDs (and contact numbers too) in real-time.

I will be sending a common email to all if personal IDs are given.

We also need to prepare a volunteers list (e.g., Agenda, Games, Logistics, A-Z organizer, etc.).

I propose the following:

- Date & Time: 02nd Sep '06 (Sat) from 7:30 pm onwards (if rain doesn't play spoilsport).

- Venue: Ideally Country Club. You can suggest something else too. Since Country Club is in the heart of the city, I thought of it.

- Eligibility: Strictly for the members (Since this is the first time, it should not be too chaotic. In the next meeting, we can invite spouses and others).

- Agenda: Will follow as soon as possible (people can suggest topics).

- Dress Code: Casuals

- Contribution: Will be discussed

We need to finalize the date and venue as soon as possible to book the venue well in advance.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas that can enhance our entire program.

Hello all Hyderabad Forum Guys,

First of all, I should thank Gunjan, Pradeep, and Phanish for their proactive response and taking time out of their busy schedule, which clearly indicates that they are aware of the basic purpose of this GT.

On Saturday, Gunjan, Pradeep, Phanish, and I met over a coffee at Ohri's, Basheerbagh, and discussed the following issues:

1. Grand Finale-meet is now rescheduled to 10th of Sep.
2. Overall BIG picture of the GT (Get-together).
3. Participants list.
4. How to encourage and motivate forum members to respond and give their contact details to make the GT a grand success.
5. Task delegation and Volunteers list.
6. Date for the Next get-together of Volunteers and other interested individuals (02nd Sep '06).

Action Points:

1. To keep our Announcement of GT very active and ongoing by sending posts in it - Prabhakar and Phanish.
2. Creation of a Database of contact details - Gunjan.
3. Looking out for various venue options - Pradeep.
4. Budget and Fund Manager - Need to get some more inputs and will be decided in the next volunteers' meet.

I request once again all of you to please provide your contact details (We assure you that you will not be distracted from your personal/professional lives). We understand that everyone is busy; however, HR itself means making contacts with people and growing the network of contacts/friendships. This will benefit us in many ways.

We should make this GT a grand success. A small example of responses: On Friday night, the Kerala get-together had only 11 views but received 6 replies, i.e., 50%, which is really good.

It is a bit disappointing that despite having over 200 views, the response is only 6.

Don't be disappointed. We will work to get the most members from Hyderabad. I think most of the guys didn't know about the meet. Some, like me, got stuck. I believe we should not only focus on the present members but also spread our vision of CITEHR to other HR friends and encourage them to register. This way, we can create a like-minded group.

We still require more responses to make this event a GREAT SUCCESS. I think we have to finalize the list of participants by the end of this month. Once we have the numbers, we can work on the theme and other details of the meeting. Even if members are unable to attend in person or are too busy to participate, they can still send valuable suggestions to help the organizers plan accordingly.

Therefore, my sincere appeal to all the active Hyderabad members of Cite HR is to participate actively or at least provide suggestions so that we can keep the momentum going. While I acknowledge that there are other active forums like HRD Network in Hyderabad, this event will be unique, or we will make it stand out from the rest.

It's really a nice idea to have a get-together of the HR members from different companies at a single location. I appreciate Prakash for his initiation.

1) Would this get-together be a normal and simple one?

2) Are you thinking of having lunch/dinner during the meet?

3) Or else, are you planning only for tea and snacks at the meet?

I believe that just meeting without any food would be incomplete. Of course, it's my view to have a lunch session on a weekend. We need to plan it better and ensure we have the exact number of members attending the meet. Based on this, if we plan for a contribution per head and announce the last date for contributions, providing passes to attending members would make a difference. It would also help us organize the meet smoothly and without hindrances.

Additionally, placing an ad in a local daily would make companies aware that HR professionals believe in unity and are always a team, regardless of working for different companies.

If I were permitted to use just one word in response to your email, I would choose, "EXCELLENT"!

Despite the fact that I have been unable to access the detailed agenda for the meeting (and that might be my personal problem!), what I saw and read in the email/invitation was superb. It was convincingly an HR meet invitation. The almost personalized approach and the urge for people to attend the "Hungama," along with the concern for "organization" in conceptualizing the event, are indeed worthy of emulation. With all this preparation and meticulousness, the "Hungama" is bound to be a super hit!

The organizers deserve full marks - relatively unknown to each other except as "online" members of the CiteHR community, you all have come together to put up a great show. This way, the members/participants can also know whether their names were included in the list or not. If the name of any participant is missed or overlooked, there is a chance to include the name without causing any embarrassment at the last minute. The list can be updated and presented in the forum at regular intervals, say once in the morning and once in the evening. What do you think?

Hi everyone,

I am happy to share that our CiteHR Hyderabad Forum "Hyderabad HR Hungama" went on very well and was a runaway hit! The highlights are:

- Total number of participants: 42

- We had to change the venue at the last moment to a bigger hall, as we were expecting only 30 people, but 42 people confirmed, and we changed the venue. However, members cooperated well.

- The entire event went on schedule as per our agenda.

- The one-on-one introduction itself took around 90 minutes.

- The majority of the people are from the IT industry, apart from Pharma and Service Industry.

- 3/4 very senior people also joined.

- We received very good feedback from the members, and we also decided on the next meet and other activities.

- All the members participated very actively in the games that were played, finally reaching a very serious HR discussion.

- All the members followed the guidelines we gave very professionally.

- A member (Aneeta) anchored the entire event very well.

- All the volunteers have done an outstanding job in making the event a success.

- We took a few snaps of the groups.

I will send a detailed email along with snaps very soon.
