I want to add little bit being a professional from both backgrounds, I can say one thing that to learn systems and procedures one should prefer the manufacturing sector in his early days of profession which is risk free & stabilised environment incomparison with service sector. You can shift into service sector after having sufficient knowledge in systems and procedures to enjoy, adopt, learn, implementation of latest HR techniques. I mean experience from manufacturing sector is a base and from there you can shine up well with the knowledge of service sector.
There is a great demand for those who knows both.
