Hi there,
Can someone with hands-on experience with the Paterson Grading System assist me in grading jobs using the Paterson Grading System? I understand it is a decision band method; however, a little practical guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The Paterson Grading System is a grading system used to attach weight to your job description in relation to others in the same field as you. For example, an IT Specialist who simply administers a Linux server only would be rated as a C2, whereas an IT specialist who administers Linux servers, Windows servers, and Unix servers would be rated as a C4. The Paterson system is based on the level of decision-making. It contains grades (A to F) and Bands (1-19). There are different systems related to the Paterson system, namely Peromnes, Hay, and Castellion. I don't have any knowledge of the others. If you look at Annexure2 of the Employment Equity Act, which you will find at the following site [link outdated-removed] (Search On Cite | Search On Google), you will find a comparison between the different systems as well as a semantic scale that can be of help.
