Hi all,

I'm currently undergoing my summer internship at one of the leading HR consulting groups in Chennai, India. As part of the training, they have assigned me to design the HR Policy Manual for the organization. Could any of you please send me samples of similar manuals or help me find them on the web?

Hi,

I am an HR trainee, and one of my assignments is to reword and redesign HR policies so that they can be sent to employees via the intranet as a communication measure from our department. The same policies are available via the intranet, so I am confused. Please show me a way to go about it.

I am working with HRM updating and adding policies &ndash; also new to HR (with a B Psych). I found the Government websites very helpful. They set benchmark policies that I found great to use as a guide. Good luck. Kellie :)

Dear Colleagues,

Long time, most people would say. To my mind, the HR Policy Manual is a very crucial tool for any HR Practitioner. I also believe that an HR Professional should have the capacity to work in any industry as an HR.

Secondly, there are Generic Standards expected to be available, documented in an average Policy manual, while the Industry-Specific ones can be gathered from friends in that industry or through your Institute. And as the need arises within the Company, new policies can be formulated for Executive approval - e.g., Company Policy on HIV/AIDS, on Flooding, Quality of Life Balance, etc.

Policy Formulation is an endless task in HR because new issues would always arise that affect PEOPLE.

Is B. Psych refers to some special category? Or is it simply targeting those areas which are untouched in general HR procedures during employee tenure? What factors do you highlight more in your province?

You don't get the right one if you ask like that. Perhaps it is a confidential document, and companies will not share it with others. Maybe you can try applying to a PSU or securing an internship with a company; then you may gain access to that manual. Try your luck!
