Hi, is PF deduction under the PF Act applicable to employees drawing a basic salary of more than Rs 6500? I mean if their basic salary is more than Rs 6500, is PF deducted on the salary of Rs 6500, or is it that the Act does not apply to such employees but is only applicable to employees drawing a basic pay of Rs 6500 and less??

Hi,
Practically, PF is mandatory for those employees whose salary is less than Rs. 6500 per month. Employees with a salary above Rs. 6500 per month have the option to choose whether they want to contribute to the PF or not. In other words, they can avail of this social security option if they wish.
