Hello, I need to work out leavers' attrition rates only but am confused. Can someone work a formula backwards and tell me how it was calculated? If my closing headcount was 1736 and leavers were 33, how does that equate to 21% annualized (rounded up)? The same with the following: closing 1081, leavers 14, result 18% annualized; closing 1672, leavers 20, result 20% annualized. Are these results correct?

Also, how do I calculate a rolling attrition rate? Say I have leavers from month 1, plus leavers from month 2, and closing balance from month 2. What will be the combined attrition for month 2 (annualized)? Does anyone have a calculator sheet they can send me? I don't want to add averages, just confirmed leavers for the month against a closing headcount for the month. This is very urgent. Help!

I have a calculation as per below: (closing balance) plus a+b....a+b are leavers for 2 months /2 X12/100. Is this correct?

Hi,

Attrition Rate can be calculated as the number of employees who resigned in a month divided by the available manpower, multiplied by 100. For example, if at the beginning of the previous month the manpower was 80, and during that month 5 employees resigned and 10 new employees joined, the manpower at the end of the month would be 80 - 5 + 10 = 85. Therefore, the Attrition Rate would be calculated as 5/85 * 100.

I hope this resolves your query.

Hi,

The formula for calculating the annualized attrition % is as follows:
=(Actual number of employees who have quit / Average headcount for that period) * 12 / The month that you are calculating the % for

For example:
No. of Attrites: 5 10 0 5
Headcount: 100 125 112 110

If you are calculating this for the month of April, the calculation would be:
= ((5 + 10 + 0 + 5) / Average of (100, 125, 112, 110)) * 12 / 4

Hope this helps.

Warm Regards,
Shweta

Hi,

I know how to calculate attrition but would like to know how to calculate attrition on the points below:

- Keeping weightage of the candidate leaving/joining as a factor.
- Keeping level-wise attrition in mind.
- Team-wise attrition
