During the notice period, if the employer asks the employee to leave earlier than the notice period ends, should the employer pay for the entire notice period duration?
For example, an organization has a 2-month notice period. Mr. A resigns and wishes to serve the entire notice period. However, the organization informs him that they do not require him to serve the full notice period and that he can leave after completing 20 days of notice.
In this situation, should the organization pay him the salary for the entire 2 months or just for the 20 days of notice served?
I understand that if Mr. A requests early relieving, then he must only be paid until the date he serves the notice. However, I would like to know what happens if the organization asks him to leave early?
