let us know the context at whcih you are looking at, there are huge differences between a leader and a manager, they are behavioural in nature.
All leaders are good managers but all managers are not leaders.

Dear Sathiya,
I agree with you that leaders can be managers. What i want to understand that in organizational pyramid we keep leaders on the top and mangers as next to them. Now, the question is if leader is not a good manager then organization will be fully controlled by any of the able manager. Specially in Social sector where we have organization leader who are mostly son of soil may have hold on the community and the issues but lacks their skill in managerial aspects. With growing turnovers in this sector from OD prospective how one should control this phenomenon.
As a result most of the time manager runs the show in the organization rather than the leader.

Sulab

please go through my post manager vs leader which i have prepared to clarify role of manager and leader.this post will be extremely useful for you...regards..amar bir singh
There is lots of difference between leader and manager. A leader can lead a small team while a manager can lead a group of leaders. Anyone become a leader but very few leader can become a manager. To become a manager a leader should have management qualification from reputed international business schools like Metropolitan school of management.
Still if you've any doubt related leaders and manager you can freely ask.

Hi msmkhana,
With respect, its not necessary to be "QUALIFIED" to be a manager from "BUSINESS SCHOOLS" to be a good manager. Its quality that develops over a period of time which can be inherent from school days too. For instance Dhirubai Ambani never went to a BUSINESS SCHOOL to get qualified as manager, and world knows about his managing skills & ability. Many more like him are out there.
So its basically a inherent quality, which only gets polished / fine tuned thru formal education.
Thanks!
