Sir/Madam, I received a show-cause notice for the late registration of an employee in ESI. However, I am unsure about the date mentioned as the date of joining at the time of registration. How should I respond to the department? What documents are required?

Hi, For ESI registration, one requires proper details such as the employee's name, date of joining (DOJ), nominee's name along with their relationship and date of birth (DOB), present and permanent address of the employee, and bank details of the employees. These are the prerequisite data required for ESI registration. So, without knowing the DOJ of the employee, how will you be able to register? You can reply stating that you were not able to register on time due to a lack of details. You can prepare an ESI form template and insist that the employee fill out the form with a signature so that it would be easier for you to process the ESI registration.
