Dear All, We are an IT product development company with 200 employees. Employee wages are at 21,000, and only 3 employees are coming under ESI. Do we need to register with ESIC? Kindly advise.

Hi, Yes, you should. The ESI scheme is applicable to all factories and other establishments as defined in the Act with 10 or more persons employed in such establishments, and the beneficiaries' monthly wage does not exceed Rs 21,000 are covered under the scheme. As an alternative, if their salary slab is near 20k or so, then you can increase it beyond 21,000/- to avoid coverage, provided you are sure you will not hire employees in a lower salary category.
