Dear All, I wanted to understand the rationale used or any calculation sheet referred to for arriving at the local conveyance reimbursement for one's own car or two-wheeler. For example, local conveyance reimbursement for one's own car (Rs. 10/km) or two-wheeler (Rs. 3/km), etc., at your respective organization (mainly Manufacturing/Automobile).

Policy on Local Conveyance Reimbursement

This is a policy that needs to be addressed by the respective company or management, as the quantum of reimbursement differs from company to company. It requires modification of rates after a span of 4-5 years, keeping in line with the rise in fuel costs.

Some thirty years ago, an auto major in India was providing local conveyance reimbursement to the tune of Rs. 1.50 per km for two-wheelers and Rs. 5.50 per km for four-wheelers.

So, your company management needs to make a decision on this.
