Hello everyone,
I have a query regarding a mistake in the deduction of pension contributions. For wages of Rs. 15,000/-, the employer's contribution was deposited incorrectly as follows:
- Employer's contribution: A/c No. 1 = 1,259/-
A/c No. 10 = 541/-
Total = 1,800/-
The correct amounts should be 550/- and 1,250/- respectively.
I have submitted 3-A (Revised) forms to the PF office, but they were returned with a request to clarify the matter and provide ID proofs of the members. They mentioned, "Establishment is advised to clarify the matter with undertaking regarding any discrepancy."
Now, my question is, what does "undertaking" mean in this context? Is there a specific format for it? If not, what should be included in the undertaking?
Thanks in advance.

In the context of PF pension contribution discrepancies, an "undertaking" typically refers to a formal statement or declaration made by the establishment to rectify the error and provide assurance of compliance with the correct contribution amounts. While there may not be a specific format mandated, the undertaking should include details such as the acknowledgment of the error, a commitment to rectify it, a statement confirming the correct contribution amounts, and any other relevant information requested by the PF office. It is advisable to draft the undertaking in a professional manner, clearly outlining the steps being taken to address the discrepancy and prevent future occurrences. Once the undertaking is prepared, it should be submitted to the PF office along with the required ID proofs of the members for further processing and resolution of the issue.
