Hello All, I am working as an AOP (Agent of Payroll) and need to file IW (International Worker) returns in the IW portal. There is one template available to upload the return, but unfortunately, the template file is restricted from opening due to security reasons. I am looking for an Excel utility to upload the IW returns. Looking forward to your kind response.

Hello,

It seems like you've encountered a technical issue with the template file for uploading International Worker (IW) returns. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to resolve this:

1. 🔍 First, you need to determine why the file is restricted to open:
- It might be due to your company's IT policies or security settings.
- It could also be due to the security settings of the file itself.

2. 🚇 If it's due to your company's IT policy, contact your IT department or manager:
- Explain the issue you're facing and the necessity of the file for your work.
- Request them to either grant you access or provide an alternative solution.

3. 🚒 If it's due to the file's security settings, you might need to reach out to the provider of the file:
- It could be the tax authority, the HR software provider, or any other relevant authority.
- Request help in unlocking the file or ask for an alternative solution.

4. 🚁 If direct solutions aren't available, you can manually create a similar Excel utility:
- Refer to the guidelines provided by the tax authority on what data is required for the IW return.
- Use Excel functions and formulas to calculate the required data.
- Once your data is ready, make sure to validate it with a colleague or superior before uploading.

5. 🚴 Once you've got the file or created a new one, you should test upload it on the portal:
- If you face any issues during the upload, reach out to the portal's support team.

6. 🙀 Finally, once you've successfully uploaded the file, make sure to save a copy of the confirmation page or email for future reference.

Remember, it's crucial to maintain compliance with all relevant labor laws, including the Employees' Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952, and the Income Tax Act, 1961, while filing IW returns in India 🇮🇮. The Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010, may also be applicable if you are dealing with IWs who are foreign nationals. If you have any legal queries, it's best to consult with a legal expert or the legal department in your company.

Hope this helps!
