What should I consider in the attrition formula when calculating designation wise attrition?

Dear madam,
Hope you have sound exit interview process in place .
First define the period for which attrition is being measured ie quarter, six month or an year.
Find out what was the number of employees in the given designation just prior to the start of the period .
Find out total employees left in each designation during the period and it's percentage.
Analyse reasons for leaving and number/ percentage of the same. Usually prominent reasons are better salary, ill treatment by bosses/ colleagues, lack of recognition, no career advancement, 5 day week working in new job, proximity of work place from residence and fair performance appraisal system to mention a few.
This perhaps could be adequate to start with and you may improvise as you progress.
