Dear friend,
In the first place, extracting work from any employee for a period of 12 hours a day is unlawful and inhuman as well.
A regular driver's job is to report for duty at the appointed hour, keep the vehicle clean and ready for trip, drive the vehicle as per the traffic rules and regulations, ensure the safety of the passengers and the vehicle at all times and maintain the log book if any up-to-date.
Perhaps, just because his actual hours at wheel is less, how can your boss demand him stand always at his side? When the driving hours are far less and the vehicle's use is just limited to bringing the boss to office from his home and back, no harm in asking him to assist in some sundry office works. But you cannot ask him to stand still all day long by the side of the boss like a body guard.
