Hi,

As an intern, I would suggest reading the book by Dave Ulrich titled "Human Resource Champion." It will help you understand the concepts of HR along with future skill development requirements. The book will clearly explain the differences between the various roles of HR in an organization.

Always strive to focus on customer-centric HR. Find ways to contribute more to the business alignment of HR. If you lose alignment with the business, HR will simply become administrative. Improve your financial knowledge to enhance your contributions to the business. Understand the business well and accordingly develop strategies and execute them. Also, understand the operations of the respective industry to make greater contributions.

All the best!

Regards,
Ashish

Tips to be a Good HR

First and foremost, familiarize yourself with the organization you are working for. Find out what they make, general information about their sales, income, and expenditure. How many employees do they have? What is their industry category, such as education, etc.? It is essential to have a good understanding of the company.

Your approach should be friendly and open to listening to what others are telling you and asking you. Professionally, keep up with the latest rules, laws, and company policies that are applicable to your work sphere. Read about ESIC, EPF, labor laws, and make notes on aspects that directly relate to your daily work.

Maintain a general folder and fill in information relating to your work. This will serve as a reminder and a source of information for you. In addition to this, be proactive in your work. Seek guidance from your seniors in the department. Document the work you do and present it to your seniors for corrections, suggestions, and information.

Be active in visiting the factory or work premises to understand how production takes place. Identify the challenges and difficulties present and see how you can help by recruiting and selecting the right staff.

Remember: "To handle yourself, use your head; to handle others, use your heart." - Eleanor Roosevelt

This quote is relevant and highlights the importance of empathy in dealing with others.
