In the hospital where I am working, they are enrolling under PF those employees (this is in case of those employees whose salaries are above the PF limit) who have a UAN number and have not withdrawn the PF from their previous employment. I had closed my PF with my previous employer and had withdrawn the PF amount. Hence, when I joined the hospital, I was told that I am not eligible to enroll in PF as I have already closed my previous account.
Clarification Sought on PF Enrollment
I seek clarification on the following:
1. Is there any rule which states that employees drawing salaries above the PF limit can continue with PF in the new establishment provided that they have not closed the previous employer account and withdrawn?
2. Is it compulsory to consider employees for enrollment in PF, whose salary is above the PF limit, just because they had PF in their previous employments or at some point in their career?
3. Is it management discretion whether to enroll an employee in PF even though the salary is above the PF limit?
