Dear All,
I have a query regarding the salary slip write-up. Can we use, "This is a computer-generated payslip; hence, a signature is not required"? I recently received some information that we need permission from the Labour Department for this, and for that, we need to file an application for Electronic Record-keeping permission.
I am not sure about this information and was not aware of this rule. So, are we supposed to write the above line without any permission, or is there any clause for the same?
Thanks,
Manish

Best person to answer this is your statutory compliance consultant or your interface with the Labor department.

Dear Manish,
In accordance with the Information Technology Act of 2000, permission from anybody is not required. All electronic communications/records do not require a signature. We are in 2017, almost 17 years after the introduction of the IT Act of 2000.
Thank you.

Dear Manish,
It is true that you are required to obtain permission from the Labour Commissioner for maintaining records electronically. However, it is not an offense to maintain records electronically without obtaining permission, and the Labour Department cannot prosecute for the same. Honourable Courts are also favouring records maintenance electronically.
