Job Related:

I just launched a free national classified board-type site covering each state and dedicated to keeping things simple and local. The early stages of my site were based on San Francisco's most popular job site. The site is growing at a nice pace and doing well. Certain areas are spreading. The most popular areas are: (MA/NY/OR/CA)

I'm interested in hearing some feedback on the site's detailed job section: layout, questions, fields, etc. Is there anything I'm missing or should consider to make this a more enjoyable job site? We do have other features related to our job section like resume matching, but that will not be released until a later date.

This project has taken me over 1 year to develop. I hope you will donate 5 minutes of your time by adding a job posting to see what you like and dislike. Hopefully, your feedback will make my free service better for you. Check Out: http://www.plugstar.com *Looking to make this free service better.*

One of the challenges you will face is competing with Craigslist.org. They are quite prominent in the markets you consider significant. However, if you don't charge, that will be an advantage over them (at least in CA and NY, where they charge—I think they are still free in MA).

I couldn't figure out how to post a job (I don't have one to post right now—I was just trying to see what is involved). When I hovered over 'more' on the jobs, the way it listed the rest of the possible job categories was a bit confusing.

You may want to separate some states into different categories (e.g., CA should at least be divided into northern and southern, or perhaps even more categories like San Diego area, LA area, San Francisco Bay area, Sacramento area, etc.).

Thank you for your input. Just so you know, we are not competing with CL. They provide services by city, whereas we operate by state. Our job form is specific, but since you couldn't find the Post Plug link, this could be an issue. We have been online for one month. I agree that CL is prominent, but many people have never even heard of it when considering the vast Internet population. Additionally, CL attracts CL users, whereas we aim for our user base to access more than just the underground market. We do not plan on entering the CA market until later. There are no current plans to charge, and we may add regions within states in the future. Thank you. I will seek input from others on the difficulty of finding the Post Plug link and potential confusion with job categories. I genuinely appreciate your advice.

I'm not from the USA and immediately noted that the site is USA specific. I attempted to place a free ad for a Resume guide I sell from my website (selecting New York) but made a syntax error. When I returned to the form, all my text was gone. Frustrating and might deter people!

The main page doesn't make it immediately clear how you can post an ad - a bit of trial and error. Is there some way to have a "Place Ad" link on the page? A model that I like can be found at www.cracker.com.au (and no, I don't have any business interest in this website other than as a user).
