hi,
i m doing my MBA in HR from U.B.S.,Chandigarh n our placement week is coming up in d 1st week of december.i would like 2 know wat do recruiters actually look for wen dey come for campus recruitments????
how should i prepare 4 dis so dat i can get a good job??
wat should i read apart from my textbooks???
plz help.

Hi,
I am also UBS pass out - 2005 batch...did MBA in HR .... so according to me u need just SELF CONFIDENCE to crack GDs and Interview...... Be confident of what u say...... and yes look as smart as u can..... Small small things make the difference......like having good diet before going for GD so that u can speak with full energy and mind......
Try to initiate the talk........ evenif u dont know much about the topic u can start by just welcoming everyone and introducing the topic.......

Hi :) ,

i m workign as an HR professional...

u need to take care of a few things in order to crack a GD ... cracking GD is not any rocket science but unfortunately even the some of the most brightest n intelligent students face immemse trouble in cracking a GD n hence lose out on good companies...

TIPS:

1) READ THE NEWSPAPERS... COMPREHEND THE MATTER WHATEVER U HAVE READ... N THEN THINK ABOUT IT IN UR MIND.. WHICH WILL MAKE THE MATTER N THE DATA MORE CLEAR AS WELL AS IT WILL ALSO ENHANCE UR THINKING SKILLS...

2) PICK UP ANY TOPIC.. ABSTRACT OR BUSINESS RELATED.. AND PRACTISE GD WITH UR FRIENDS MAKING A GROUP OF ATLEAST 3 OR 4 PEOPLE... THIS WILL GIVE UR CONFIDENCE A BOOST N WOULD ALSO HELP U KNOW WHERE U NEED TO WORK ON UR GD SKILLS. THIS WILL ALSO HELP U KNOW HOW MUCH MORE U NEED TO STUDY.

3)WHEN U PUT FORWARD ANY POINT DURING THE GD, SAY IT WITH CONFIDENCE AND WITH CONVICTION AND NEVER BE SHAKY.

4) MAKE THE COMMENTS IN THE GD WITH THE HELP OF FACTS N DATA LIKE.. U CAN STAY IN THE YEAR 2006 THE NO. OF THE MURDERS WAS 200 N IN THIS YEAR IT HAS RISEN TO 400 AND SO ON... THIS IS JUST AN EXAMPLE THAT I GAVE.

5) WHILE PUTTING FORWARD POINTS.. MENTION SOME OF THE MOTIVATIONAL THEORIES, LEADERSHIP THEORIES BY REALTING THEM TO THE POINT UR MAKING... THIS IS HIGH MARKS FETCHING AND WILL AUTOIMATICALLY DIVERT THE ATTENTION OF THE RECRUITER TOWARDS U. THE MAIN INTENTION IN THE GD IS TO ATTRACT THE ATTENTION OF THE RECRUITER BY MAKING STUNNING POINTS WHICH NO ON E IS MAKING.

6) ONE BIG PROBLEM WHICH MANY STUDENTS FACE DURING THE GD IS ... THEY ARE STOPPED FROM SPEAKING BY BEING CUT OR INTRRUPTED BY OTHERS... IF SOMEONE CUTS OR STOPS U FROM MAKING UR POINT .. JUST PROCEED WITH IT BY SIMPLY RAISING UR VOICE OR BY TELLING HIM " LET ME FINISH MY POINT IN A VERY FIRM MANNER". DONT GET SUPRESSED BY SOMEONE ELSE... EVERY PARTICIPANT IS BEING GIVEN 3 0R 4 MIN DURING THE GD SO MAKE FULL USE OF IT AND DONT LET ANYONE UTILIZE UR TIME FOR HIS GOOD.

7)DONT BE SARCASTIC IF YOU DONT AGREE TO ANY POINT MADE BY UR GD MEMBERS.

8) ENTER THE GD WITH NEW AND INNOVATIVE POINTS AND NEVER REPEAT THE POINTS THAT U HAVE MENTIONED OR ANYONE HAS MENTIONED.

These are all the points that i could help u with ... i was one of the people who was unable to crack the gd's but with 3 days i picked all my knowledge and cracked any gd i sat for n my participants saw the distinctive change in me...

I hope this would help u too as it did to me.. as i have put down my experince here.
