Dear folks,
I am into HR for the past 12yrs. Started my career as a Recruiter then as Generalist. 8+yrs into Non-IT industry in Chennai and currently working in Bangalore. I am looking for Job change and whenever i apply for a job in IT industry, Consultants and HRs of IT industry is replying that they need HRs from IT industry only.
I really wonder what is the difference between HR in IT industry and non-IT industry. Shall i have your views on this.

Hi Indra,
Yes, there is a difference in IT as the recruitments is more technical into nature and the policies are preety different in terms of:
On Site Work Policy
Relocation Policy
There are very employee oriented policies.
I have also joined IT industry from a non IT industry. This is difference i found. But then a person can easily learn these things in a months time. The recruitment is very different,

Hi,
There would be considerable difference in the policies and the recruitment process. Also the appraisal pattern will work differently.
For a recruiter to switch from Non-IT to IT industry would be a little difficult taking into consideration the niche demand IT industry keeps throwing at recruiters. Having said so, the recruitment cycle i.e from JD to onboarding remains the same.
Goodluck with your Job hunt.
