Key Responsibilities of an HR Generalist

An HR Generalist should have knowledge of various HR functions, including joining formalities, issuing posting orders, coordinating training needs of employees, monitoring punctuality and attendance, assisting reporting or HR heads in performance management, looking after day-to-day labor/employee needs, attending to employee grievances at the unit level, administering discipline, and complying with statutory requirements and procedures like the Shops Act, ESI, PF, gratuity, Factories Act, or any other Act applicable to the industry you work in.

You need to gain a conceptual understanding of all these functions as a fresher or student. Practical knowledge can be acquired when you are actually performing the functions or during your summer and winter internships. That's why these internships are so important to gain practical insights into HR functioning, which most students treat as academics too.
