I am pleased to inform you that the regularization of the 21 Days On/Off work pattern as a "Gazette Notification" has been published by the Central Government, along with an exemption from the provisions of Section 28, 30, and Section 35 of the Mines Act, 1952, subject to certain conditions. This long-pending and much-awaited request of the Mining and Oil & Gas sector has been approved, formalizing the 21 days on/off working pattern. The exempted provisions are as follows:
- Section 28: Weekly day of rest.
- Section 30: Weekly and daily working hours.
- Section 35: Limitation of daily hours of work including overtime work.
This formalizes and clarifies the 21 days on/off working pattern. This development is indeed great news for the Indian Mining and Oil & Gas Sector. I express my gratitude to the Government for this significant decision.
