Herewith attached a document which i get from this CITE HR posted by umesh. Hope this clarifies ur doubt on SAP.
According to me doing SAP from reputed institute will gain knowledge and Exposure. Dont go for Non Certified SAP Insttitute.

Dear John,
I have one question ....always i find over this cite that doing SAP from reputed institute will gain knowledge and Exposure...But i think reputed like Siemens charges 2lakh for this course....but if u'll do with some institute those who charges 20k for the course fee and 10k for live projects that also throw knowledge and practical exposure...Live projects gives u lots of knowledge...
And ppl gets job also by doing this type of courses without any certificate....
Wat u suggest now????

To my knowledge, doing SAP from certified institute will be a good one, bcoz 1. Certification is a valid one, 2. Practical Exposure, 3. get immediate job vth good package etc.
I can agree vth ur point but getting a job some what difficult.
