I suggest you start by understanding how the information flow happens in HRIS from one module to another, and then choose one HR function of your interest to learn the features of that function thoroughly within the HRIS module. It is also important to understand which database is best suited based on employee strength and HR operations within the company.
Challenges in HRIS Development and Implementation
You should also gain insight into the challenges you will face to develop and implement the HRIS depending on the nature of the company's work. The intensity of challenges will vary from the manufacturing to the services industry because the adaptability of changes is different in different industries.
