Dear all,
We have PT registration in West Bengal. We have engaged some workers, and appointment letters were issued from the Kolkata office. The workers are engaged at a construction site in Orissa State, and they are originally from Orissa.
Please guide me on whether PT will be applicable or not. If applicable, which state PT slab should be followed.
Thanks,
Subrata Singha

PT is a state affair. I think the PT slab changes, which are suggested here, seem to be applicable for Hyderabad state. I don't think the PT slab for Maharashtra has changed. It was last changed in 2009-2010. In case there are any changes to the Maharashtra PT slab, colleagues, please forward the circular copy for information and making necessary changes in payroll.

Gujarat commercial tax website PT Act states a 200 Rs tax for salaries above 3000 after 1.4.08. It has two schedules, one before April 2008 and the other after April 2008. However, the notification indicates different tax rates. Which one is correct?
