The service tax exemption limit is ₹10 lakhs. If it exceeds ₹10 lakhs, you are liable to pay a service tax (in FY 2012-13) of 12.36%, including surcharge and cess per month. You can also remit them online to the authorities at the Tax Department. Sales tax and Value Added Taxes differ from state to state. For instance, in Maharashtra State, it is 4% and 5%, respectively. Excise duty is applicable on the final product and is subject to the central VAT on the manufactured product.
