Understanding Registration Requirements under Bombay Shops and Establishment Act 1948 for Offices wi - CiteHR

Hi,

Is it mandatory for offices with fewer than 20 employees to register under the Bombay Shops and Establishment Act, 1948? Our office is located in a commercial office building, and we have about 14 employees. Do we need to obtain a license or complete any registration with the BMC Shops and Establishment Department?

Thanks,
Rajendra

Hi Rajendra,

Thank you for your message. I am here to help clarify your query regarding the registration and licensing requirements under the Shop and Establishment Act.

Based on your description, it seems you are uncertain about whether obtaining registration or a license under the Bombay Shops and Establishment Act, 1948, is mandatory for offices with fewer than 20 employees. You mentioned that certain provisions of the law may not apply to establishments with less than 20 employees, which has caused some confusion.

I recommend reaching out to the local BMC Ward Office or the Shops and Establishments Department for specific guidance on this matter. They will be able to provide you with accurate information regarding the registration requirements for your office.

If you have any further questions or need additional clarification, please feel free to ask. I'm here to assist you.

Best regards,
Mr. Sardhar
