Dear HR Professionals,

I have started a Private Limited firm, and I am one of the directors. However, concerning my seniority, I don't feel that I should be using "Director" as my designation. I want to maintain a low profile and then upgrade myself according to the growth of the business. Could you kindly help me design a designation chart that reflects this approach?

We are basically a trading company from Gujarat, India.

Thank you.

I really appreciate and agree with your point. If you are looking for growth, then it is really important that you pass through all the stages from lower to higher positions. However, I will not advise you to go for the chaprasi position.

Designation Suggestions

If you are handling any specific department, you can designate yourself as a Manager. For example, if you are taking care of Marketing and Sales, you can designate yourself as Marketing/Sales Manager. In case you are dealing with all or most of the departments, you can designate yourself as Operations Manager or Operations Head. Similarly, if you take care of most departments and are a key decision-maker, then the right designation for you would be CEO.

I hope the response sheds some light and helps you in making the right decision.

Best Regards,
Chirag Dhorda

almost all small companies have PROPRIETOR designation that person manages all aspects or you can also use PARTNER / MANAGING PARTNER.
